RE: Stockton Lodi RV Park & Campground

There is also Flag City by Highway 5 in Lodi. Newer and clean facility but not very scenic.

RE: RV Campsites Monterey CA or nearby

Betabel RV park in San Juan Bautista is another good place to stay. It is on Highway 101.It's about 1.5 hours from S.F. and 25 minutes from Monterey Peninsula.

RE: Thanksgiving route California to Oregon

If you don't want to stay at Westport (I agree about the unfriendly owners) you may want to stay at Pomo Campgound in Ft. Bragg. You can get on Highway 1 by Leggett or in Willits from Highway 101.

RE: How to remove slide out reservoir cap?

Thanks for your replies. I have one similar to Doug's second link but have an octagonal shaped reservoir. The cap just keeps turning and appears to have a thread but doesn't come out. It just keeps rotating. I tried pushing down and turning at the same time and that didn't work either. I don't want to force it out.

How to remove slide out reservoir cap?

This may sound like a stupid question but how do you remove the cap of the reservoir so it can be filled? I have a Lippert slide-out pump. It doesn't unscrew and I don't want to force it or strip the threads as it is just plastic. The way it is positioned doesn't allow me to see if there are any instructions on the cap.

RE: Dump Station Near Santa Rosa/Jenner/Salt Point

The best two places would be the Rotten Robbie gas station off of the Todd Rd. exit on Highway 101, East side of the freeway in Santa Rosa. They charge $10.00 or free with gas fill-up. Also, there is Casini Ranch Campground in Duncan Mills right by Jenner on River Rd. I don't know if they will let you use their dump station if you don't camp there but it's worth a call.

RE: Its raining ceiling fixtures.

Could you use a coat hanger (wrap insulation around where you will grip it) and bend a hook on the end and try to fish out the wire in the ceiling?

RE: San Francisco North Petulama KOA - Bad Experience

I live just north of Petaluma. There a lot of dairies in the area and at this time of the year, they are spreading manure for planting the fields. It just depends on which way the wind is blowing...It gets pretty foul at times but doesn't last very long. Unfortunately, there aren't many campgrounds in this part of the county especially if you want to travel to San Francisco. The parks on the coast are better if you want to escape the dairies this time of the year.

RE: Manually Getting Slide out Back in

Just as Donawilcox stated. Most Forest River products use Lippert motors and hydraulics. I contacted Lippert to ask the same question. There isn't a crank, you need to use a drill or wrench with a hex bit and place it into the hole on the left side of the motor. Don, the suggestion for using a screw gun is good. Sometimes my 18 volt drill will not be able to crank down the rear stablizers because it requires too much torque. I think that I will buy a higher power drill. What brand of screw gun are you using?

RE: Need info on '08 Pilgrim 272PBH

Not to be too negative, but we have had three RV dealerships go out of business this last year and two major boat dealerships (sign of the fuel prices/economy). So even if the dealer says that they will honor the warranty, I would make sure that you get a large enough discount to cover any repairs out of your own pocket.

Rippling in panel under overhang

I could use some help identifying a problem. Just noticed today that there is some rippling/bowing in the panel that is located around the king pin that is under the bedroom overhang on our trailer. It rippling/bowing is in the forward corner on the passenger side and goes on for about 1 1/2 feet along the front where the panel meets the front cap. It is similar to the rippling I see on the side skirts of the trailer but is more pronounced. Is this possibly from water damage or just normal wear? Unfortunately, our local Forest River dealer and most of the RV dealers here have closed up shop. I have one good local repair shop but don't want to take it in until I checked here to see if anyone has had the same problem.

RE: Lake Havasu

If you want to be by the lake and go swimming in the lake and watch the boats after work, Crazy Horse would be good. I would check to see if they have full hookups. If you want to go jump in a swimming pool, not worry about power and don't mind being away from the lake, I would choose Havasu Resort. Their prices are higher and I believe they charge a daily electricity surcharge because they are an ownership park and the spaces are usually privately owned. There is another park out at the end of the island called Islander. Both the Beachcomber and Islander are mixed use with park models, permanent residents and RV spaces in between. You can check out some of the reviews here.

RE: Lake Oroville / Bidwell Canyon / RV Sites / Boat Launch

I would also check the lake level. It was down 145 feet last week. It is a large lake and still has plenty of water. Lake Shasta is another lake that you may want to consider. You can camp at Antler's resort and they will launch your boat for you with a tractor. Just a thought. Not sure about hookups. There are fires up there as well but the smoke conditions all depend on which way the wind is blowing. It's a large lake so you can go to a branch that isn't as smoky. That's what we did on July 4th weekend.
To answer your original question, there is room to turn around at the top of the ramp and a fairly large parking lot. Here is the website for lake levels:

Sorry you will have to cut and paste as I'm not sure how to put in a link.

RE: CA Areas Affected by Fires

The coastal redwoods north of San Francisco have much better air quality than inland. I am in Santa Rosa on Highway 101 and it is hazy but not bad enough to cancel your trip. Not sure about the Eureka area but you can call ahead.

RE: California Wildfires

I would also avoid I-5 if it's as smoky as it was when we just came back from Lake Shasta/Redding area this last Sunday. We cut over on highway 20 to 101 to avoid the smoke and it was still smoky/hazy but much better than I-5. Our destination was Santa Rosa so we didn't have very far to go. It will take you longer, about an extra couple of hours to get to 101 from Highway 20 because you have to go around Clearlake. Then you will take extra time to go through S.F since the highway goes through town. You could go over the Golden Gate, get on 19th, take 280 South back to 101 South. Highway 5 is certainly faster and the smoke will all depend on the wind direction. Last Saturday was absolutely clear through the Redding/Williams area.
You could also go west on 299 to Eureka and go down 101 south but you will still have to go through S.F. 101 is a very pretty route all of the way down. Not sure about smoke in the Santa Barbara area. You could cut back over to I-5 on Highway 152 (Gilroy area). Check it out on a map. Good luck and have a great trip.

RE: Where to spend Chistmas on the West Coast?

How about the Palm Springs, Coachella Valley area? You can also check out Joshua Trees National park. Very nice area to go to for the winter and it's about 400-600 miles away from you.

RE: Lake Tahoe for a 5er and route

Just traveled up to Reno on I80 in a passenger car. They're doing lots of construction, re-paving parts of I80. They are working late into the day trying to get it all done before winter. Hopefully, it will smooth out the road and much improved by August.
